its a rare case to see actual hand drawn cell animation on cable access but i just flipped through and caught about half a collection of shorts by Tom Guthery IV on Channel Austin 16. so amazingly drawn in a sort of primitive rocko's modern life does a grace jones music video kinda style. VERY early 90s. Very Texas outsider unintentional zolo. and i found the website for his produciton company Flix productions here in austin TX. the soundtracks are also super early synth thriller cum corprate motivational themes.

1984 seems to be much like the year when the new generation of computers tried to separate itself to the new. much like many of the technological advances that gave way to the "New", which has gotten us to where we are today; but in doing such separated a generation of programmers to the generation of users.

going back to the original Mac ad from 1984, it seems more prophetic in idea that the free radical that ends the older system is no better; in that it too will eventually become to engender the ideals of that which it sought to destroy. "There is no love but for big brother!" the prodigal son of silicon valley has become the all knowing all seeing ultimate controlled status product. systems of control these days arent forced on the people, rather the people will more likely pay top dollar for those systems in their life with accessories on how to better integrate it into your (ilife)

in its contrast the PC remains as cumbersome as ever but freer and more pragmatic for those who retain the values of the programmers. which is why they still flourish as the choice for gamers and open source software development. none of this is to try to stake a claim in the wages between the two titans, i am saying that while macs offer the most that everyone can agree on; PCs and Linux users are carrying on the tradition of an archaic value in the computer world, mostly abandoned by modern users, and and prompting the question, what is sacrificed in the name of faster and easier?

I just finished reading GLASSHOUSE by Charles Stross. It's basically a paranoid satire of 20th century exist from the perspective of a 27th century posthuman. The end offers postsingularity posthuman biomorphism as utopia, even trapped within a simulacrum of the 20th century. Space is the Place, where we can be what we wanna be, do what we wanna do. It's humorous though, that Charles Stross posits this utopia as a place where we can live our World of Warcraft fantasy lives in the real, free from prosecution - a sign that their society has finally been freed from the cognitive dictatorship is that someone can walk thru the mall in a hermaphroditic centaur body covered in chainmail without anyone so much as raising an eyebrow. The highest flights of the mind in sci fi crash and burn into the dark subconscious depths of epic fantasy.

OMG I JUST REALIZED THE LARGE HADRON COLLIDER HAS A COUNTDOWN WEBSITE AND AS IT SO HAPPENS I FOUND IT ON THE DAY THAT THE COUNTDOWN ENDS WHICH IS IN APPROX 9 HOURS. ok i love that game developing has gotten to the point where visual design is so advanced they are bored coming up with more ways to make blowing up a cop car look wicked awesome and they just chill and make games for kids that teach them how to deal with an ADD world ala the Katamari series. its like the pendelum has swung the other way and we are gonna see some major advances in how cute we as human beings have the potential to be and how psychedelic we can make childrens entertainment. just look at this one called Loco Roco. its like maze craze lava lamp labyrinth with a soundtrack i wish i could find on 45s as the prize inside some sort of limited edition cereal box sweepstakes.

everything you know about anything is biased in the cosmic sense that all our knowledge up until the mid 20th century was based on knowledge gathered from our surroundings. which is great. we are doing what we can with what we have. but it still feels so limited. think of the universe as a never ending story that we dont know how to read yet. and we just within the last 50 years started skimming over other chapters regarding that which deal with anything besides our solar system and the footnotes regarding life on earth. all our knowledge is terrestrial. not only that but to even get to the other chapters we have to travel distances that require several lifetimes. minimum. except maybe it is secretly a choose your own adventure novel. and you can skip all over the book at will if you know how to interpret the choices you are offered. and maybe you have to make some choices that aren't congruent with assumptions on how to get where you want to go because you have to think 5 steps ahead of yourself to get the the end without marooning yourself in a quagmire of a whirlpool made of negative energy that you actually created with your own mind. yeah.
