Sentai is the Japanese word for task force. Literally meaning squadron or fighting team.
It is also a genre of action based dimension bending monster-of-the-week good vs. evil polymorphic japanese children's shows that have existed since 1975. Companies like Toei and Bandai being the fore runners of the genre. You may remember the sensationalized power rangers of the nineties. The Power Rangers being the prime Americanized example. Bandai goons. Though Power Rangers' mainstream sucess has come and passed in America for the most part, Sentai themed shows were and still are prevalent programming. Hyper accelerated sequences of modular monolithic mechanical demi gods, excessive use of explosions, brightly colored spandex, and the artwork and decontextualized influence it has had on other cultures has caught my attention. ZIONCE VICTION.
